   Description:

 SHUFUNOTOMO (means: housewife's friend)

The Japanese script above the words 'CD BOOKS 19' on the front cover states, that a woman named Reiko Yukawa wrote the book and chose the songs for the CD. She is a huge Elvis fan and has written many articles and other books on Elvis. (She has also prepared the well-known CD: MEGA ELVIS - The Essential Collection' - BVCP 850) It also states, that 'Elvis Presley Fan Club' cooperated. (presumably that's the Japanese Fan Club)

Page 1 states the CD song titles in Japanese along with their running times.

Pages 2 and 3 state the book contents, as follows:

Foreword page 5
Beginning on page 7 and page 22 are two essays about Elvis.
Page 33 section is entitled: 'Elvis last 24 hours'.
Beginning on page 44 is a chronology of key events in Elvis' lifetime.
The numbers beginning 19__ at the top of each page are all years and the numbers in brackets show Elvis' age at the time.
From page 53 is a list of Elvis' movies and info on each one (year it was made, director, songs, etc.)
A discography begins on page 87 (strangely that section goes from left to right, so it starts on page 87 and ends on page 72). It gives you the original release date, song titles, US catalog numbers and Japanese CD catalog numbers.
Page 92-88 discusses the songs on the included CD and obviously the lyrics appear on pages 103-93.

NOTE: Red/purple side is the front of the dust jacket (the book is read mostly from right to left and the Japanese script on the spine is mostly written top to bottom).

The series continued after the Elvis book was published in September 1990. The latest one I can find info on is February 1992, but I don't know, if that was the last one ever or not.

Incidentally, if you look on page 105, you can see a cutout inlay card for the CD. Also on page 104 there is an 'About the Author' page.

Special Message from JAT:
As I was putting together the final touches on my new book/CD: 'ELVIS: America The Beautiful' - a project I had been working on since June (permission for the CD was granted in July) - tragedy struck the world with the terrible news of the World Trade Center disaster.
I think it's important for people to know that this project was conceived in Feb. of this year (2001) and obviously it had absolutely NOTHING to do with happened on 9/11. The idea for the book/CD was planned to be a tribute to Elvis and his love for America as well as a tribute to RCA records. I hope everyone will enjoy this.

'I call it America and I love it' - Elvis Aron Presley.

Description: This CD is a replica of the French EP 'Rock and Roll N° 2' presented in a cardboard sleeve replicating the original EP including the actual size. The CD is attached to a cardboard square fitting inside the 45 rpm-size sleeve. The front of the cardboard shows the front cover of the French EP 'Rock and Roll N° 3.

The History - translated from back of the cardboard .
It is the the year 1956, during the second quarter that RCA France releases the four tracks 45 rpm - 'Rock and Roll N° 2. At that time Elvis totally dominated the American scene: records, TV, movies........the phenomenon is ongoing.

However, being unsure about the Elvis impact on the French public, RCA decided to release the record under an anonymous label, which subsequently became known to collectors as 'La Batterie' (75309), meaning 'The Drums'. Subsequently, like the rest of the world, French youth succumbed quickly to the new rhythm and its leader: ELVIS PRESLEY.

During the early months of 1957, the recording company, aware of the new direction that music was taking, released a record set entitled 'Rock and Roll, N° 1 to 5' which included (number 3) the above mentioned 'La Batterie'. This record would be re-edited and released numerous times.

In 1961, the record cover and the series are re-edited with a new look, color and new catalogue numbers. 'La Batterie' becomes catalog number 86289. This record would be reissued on numerous occasions in this form into the 70s. One can imagine what the sales must have been over these fifteen years.

Today, despite all these editions, 'La Batterie' as per 'Elvis Presley Record Price Guide' is valued at around 1220 Euros, (1600$ US). The first edition of the 'Rock and Roll N° 3, at 150 Euros (200$ US and the third cover around 75 Euros (100$ US).

ELVIS PRESLEY La Discographie - 272 pages - published in 2002 by - 'Elvis My Happiness' - is a beautifully produced soft cover publication presenting an extensive discography of all French releases of singles, EPs, LPs and CDs. The book is in full color and shows all covers, track-listings and values for the releases.

'Kung av Sverige' - 280 pages hardcover book written by Börje Lundberg - Premium Forlag, Stockholm 1997

His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf will surely agree that there is another king of Sweden: Elvis Presley.

One of the extraordinary facets of the Elvis phenomenon is the sensational amount of connections he has with our country. He almost had a Swedish wife. His favourite song was Swedish. A young Swedish girl got the nickname 'Sweden' from him. He had a Swedish pianist. A tiny Swedish girl corresponded with Elvis. Two Swedish businessmen attempted to lure Elvis to Sweden with the aid of the world's largest dalecarlia horse...and much, much more. All in colour with around 800 pictures.

'Elvis - Kung Av Sverige' (Elvis - King Of Sweden) contains lots of exciting tales, entertaining curiosities and interesting facts about Elvis and all his Swedish connections. And it's all in Swedish, too.

Here is a complete Elvis filmography with all his Swedish movie posters depicted in glorious colour, plus hilarious excerpts from the reviews of the time.

The book is rounded off with a comprehensive, illustrated discography spanning 70 pages. For the first time you can see 400 Elvis records in full colour. Both the original US releases and those officially issued in Sweden. A priceguide offers the chance of checking if you have any collectors items in your own collection.

The author is Börje Lundberg, one of Sweden's best-known journalists, who has himself met Elvis.

Along with the first edition of the book came a 4 track BMG/RCA CD: 'Good Rockin' Tonight'.
