Las Vegas - December 07, 1976

Las Vegas - December 07, 1976
The only known available soundboard recording from Elvis’ last Vegas season.

Now newly remastered and for the first time available in the right speed!!! Please note: This show was first released on the cd "Run On" in 1997. Although this is a soundboard recording, the sound quality is not very good. Whilst the sound quality is disappointing for a soundboard, the unusual circumstances of this show make it worthwhile to listen to. Now you can hear this show for the first time on cd in remastered sound and in the right speed!
Including: "You Better Run" and "Bosom Of Abraham"
Plus 8 great bonus tracks!
Including 8 pages booklet with photos and recording information.

Some Call it Folk

Elvis’ 1970 Country album was a great idea, so it is a shame that with Elvis’ interest in contemporary folk music he didn’t release a "Folk" themed album. For the May 1971 session Elvis had even used folk group The Nashville Edition as backing singers and selected some interesting songs to record.
However from a marketing perspective we can hardly see an LP called "Elvis Folk" appealing to his fans in 1971, and let’s face it Elvis wasn’t recording what the general public would consider Folk. Instead the sound was more of a spontaneous "unplugged acoustic" feel as opposed to the more recent big ballads or soulful stew of the Memphis sessions. But still….some call it folk.
Now for the very first time....finally an Elvis ‘Folk’ album. Housed in a stunning 3 panel digipack this is a top notch Elvis CD release.
FOOLS RUSH IN (unedited master) I’M LEAVIN’ (unedited master) TOMORROW IS A LONG TIME (take 2) UNTIL IT’S TIME FOR YOU TO GO (take 7) EARLY MORNING RAIN (take 11) I WILL BE TRUE (take 2) PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HAND (unedited master) THE FIRST TIME EVER I SAW YOUR FACE (overdubbed master – differend mix) SNOWBIRD (take 2) IT’S STILL HERE ( unedited master) HELP ME MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT (take 3) DON’T THINK TWICE, IT’S ALL RIGHT (take 2 – edited) IT’S ONLY LOVE (unedited master) (THAT’S WHAT YOU GET) FOR LOVIN’ ME (take 10) 500 MILES (home recording) BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND (home recording) I’M LEAVIN’ (recorded live, 21.08.1974) EARLY MORNING RAIN (recorded live, 21.06.1977)

Final Count to Midnight - Part 2

This is a press-release we received from Backdraft:
Due to the enormous success of Backdraft’s Box set ‘Final Count to Midnight’ it appears that not enough copies were pressed which have left Elvis fans having to go without.
Since we are unable to process more copies of the box set due to logistical reasons, Backdraft will now release 2 separate products housed in a deluxe super jewel case.
A 2CD version and a separate DVD only release, both with different front covers, contain a deluxe 24 page booklet inside of each. We would like to point out that the content of the booklet in both of the releases are entirely different and that, the photographs and text information are not repeated to each of the releases.
These are again in very limited supplies and dealers will be restricted on quantities.
In the meantime, the production team at Backdraft would like to thank Elvis fans from around the world for their enormous support on this and our past releases.
We will look forward to the near future when we will release a brand new unreleased soundboard (never before heard, not even as an audience recording) from the Las Vegas engagement from the Summer of 1970.

Adios Lincoln & Rattling Plates, Aces'n'Eights

Here a press release from Straight Arrow:

Adios Lincoln
Monday, June 20, 1977,8:30 pm, Lincoln, NE, Pershing Municipal Auditorium.
Label: Straight Arrow Special Products SA/SP 2014-23-02
Most of Elvis’ musicians prefer not to talk about Elvis’ final tours, but whenever they do, they usually agree that final tour was one that should have never been undertaken. It was simply one tour too many. At this stage it was impossible to hide the fact that Elvis was in serious problems.
In any case, the Lincoln concert is one of the finest shows from that last tour. Elvis sounds much better than in Omaha the day before. Surprises include a well-sung ‘Help Me’ and arguably the best ever version of ‘Unchained Melody’, which for the first and only time was performed before the band introductions. Interestingly, and completely unknown until now, is that Elvis asks J.D. Sumner and the Stamps to perform 'Walk That Lonesome Road' during the band intros, which is very unusual for the time frame.
The June 20, 1977 show was first issued on CD in 2004 („ELVIS ROCKS LINCOLN“). This sloppy edition was taken from an incomplete source, missing 17 minutes. For the first time Straight Arrow offer this concert complete. Using two independent original audience recored tapes, Straight Arrow's sound engineer was able to restore all 73 minutes of Lincoln concert.
This new CD edition is limited to 500 copies. Do not miss one of the best shows from Elvis Presley final tour!

Rattling Plates, Aces'n'Eights (From „booth tapes“ Vol. 5)

Friday, August 24, 1973 Dinner Show, Las Vegas Hilton, Las Vegas, NV Label: Straight Arrow Special Products SA/SP 2014-24-02 Liner notes: Imagine being a singer, and really putting your heart into a song. At the same time, your audience is having dinner, and some of them plainly don’t give a fuck about you or your singing. They are talking loudly, making noises with their plates, smoking one cigarette after another… Doesn’t sound very enticing, does it?

By 1973, it was clear that Elvis’ Las Vegas shows had a negative effect on the singer. But even at this stage, he was still impressive as a singer and a performer, and especially on those nights where he really turned on the power, there was nobody like him in Vegas -- or anywhere else, for that matter.
The August 24th, 1973 dinner show is unreleased in any form and was sourced from an original, excellent sounding „booth“ tape. What is perhaps most surprising, is that Elvis was still quite focused three weeks into the engagement. In earlier years, the standard had sometimes slipped a bit in the third week, even as early as August ’70! Now he delivers a strong show, with ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ and ‘Big Hunk O’ Love’ being the show highlights. ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ was not a regular during this season up to this point, but he delights the audience with a snappy version of his first million seller. And who knows, at this stage he may well have concluded that he’d found his own ‘Heartbreak Hotel’…

This show was rediscovered recently and we believe that you will agree with us that this is another great find. A real must - not just for the hardcore collector. Another quality Straight Arrow release!

Elvis At The Hilton

AudiRec proudly presents: ELVIS AT THE HILTON – a brandnew double-CD Set which will be released shortly. CD 1 includes the complete “3 A.M.” Show while CD 2 includes the complete Dinner Show – both dated September 2, 1973. It was the summer of 1973 - “Labor Day Weekend” brought thousands of visitors to Las Vegas, the “Entertainment Capital City of the World” and Elvis – again – was the most requested performer people wanted to see in Concert. No wonder the Colonel agreed when being asked to schedule a special “3 A.M. Show” on Sunday morning (Sept. 2) to fulfill the many requests for tickets. Elvis was so popular in Vegas, it is hard to compare with any of today´s artists. So it is never a fault to say that Elvis was indeed the “King Of Vegas”. For our first release and with all the technical help we could get from our friends from the “Straight Arrow” Label we were able to obtain two rare shows, both from September 2, 1973. We were given the opportunity to work with the original tapes, recorded at the showroom of the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel by a very well-known and a hundred percent devoted Elvis-Fan. Both shows have been recorded with a tape-recorder brought in secretly and have to be called “typical audience recordings”, though clearly ones which are of real good quality for that type of recordings.

Did you know, that Elvis rode on the back of “Memphis Mafia-Member” Lamar Fike when entering the stage at this early morning show of September 2? He was clearly in a playful and funny mode in the morning hours of this Sunday and it was showing in many parts of this concert. We all know the photos from the Closing Show of this engagement (just one day later) where Elvis did the same (riding on Lamar´s back but this time with a toy monkey on HIS shoulders) – but that was not the first time Elvis did such a “special” start of the show. Anyhow, this is just a small piece of information we collected for the 16-page booklet which accompanies the release. You will read many details regarding those two shows, written down by witnesses just barely one hour after the shows ended – up at their hotel room at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel!
Expect a fine, decent double CD Set and be sure to get your copy at your local dealer! Tracklistings:
